YEAR END REPORT
In January 2019, Friends of Sacramento Arts was established in response to the 2018 Creative Edge Culture Plan and the #1 goal to restore arts education in Sacramento’s public k-12 schools.
Fast forward to June 2020 and Friends of Sacramento Arts, in just 18 months, is recognizing and celebrating the lives impacted, the partnerships developed and the generous first-year philanthropic investors who made this possible.
CREATIVE EDGE CULTURE PLAN
CULTURAL EQUITY STATEMENT
In January 2017, the Race and Cultural Equity Task Force, established to ensure that the policies and procedures of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission are equitable and to create a new cultural equity statement, convened for the first time. Sixteen members of the public were appointed to serve on the Task Force. After six months, their work concluded with the adoption of the Arts Commission’s new Cultural Equity Statement. The Friends of the Sacramento Arts has also formally adopted this statement as a guiding principle of our work.
