Fiscal Sponsorships

Fiscal Sponsorship FAQ

A fiscal sponsorship is a partnership with artists, creative organizations, or an arts collectives to receive tax-deductible donations and grants under the umbrella of an established nonprofit, like Friends of Sacramento Arts.
If you don’t yet have your own 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, a fiscal sponsor gives you the ability to apply for grants and accept charitable donations. It’s also a great option for short-term projects, pilot programs, or initiatives that do not need to form a full nonprofit.
FOSA manages the administrative side, such as compliance, reporting, and oversight, so you can focus on your project’s vision, programming, and fundraising.
Artists, educators, community leaders, and organizations with projects that align with FOSA’s mission to support and grow the arts in Sacramento are welcome to apply.
  • Access to grants and tax-deductible donations

  • Administrative and financial management support

  • Increased credibility with funders and partners

  • The ability to focus on your mission without forming a separate nonprofit
