Theresa Riviera has been a resident of Sacramento since 1983 and retired in 2014. Since retiring she has been involved in community advocacy under the motto of ‘Cultivating Community and Empowering Individuals’. She chose this motto to encapsulate hermy beliefs when addressing issues affecting the well-being of people.
The framework is based on principles that respect the rights of all community members to be informed, consulted, involved and empowered. “I believe that success depends on being sensitive to the community and individuals – listening, building relationships, collaborative decision-making etc. to achieve sustainable outcomes.”
She is an active member of several local civic and cultural organizations.
