Dr. Linda Merksamer, a retired dentist, has extensive experience in both the arts and sciences. Currently, she is an active docent at the Crocker Art Museum, Leadership Cabinet of the Crocker Next Capital. Campaign, Crocker Art Auction Committee, and an officer of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. She recently completed two terms on the Board of Directors of Broadway Sacramento. She served for many years on the Crocker Art Museum Board of Directors including five years as an officer of the Board. Other previous leadership roles include Chair of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and Chair of the highly acclaimed Sacramento Youth Symphony Music of the Holocaust Era concert at the Mondavi Center, and Chair of the Crocker Art Auction. She has also served on the Board of Directors of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Sacramento and Northern California, Crocker Art Museum Docent Council, Sacramento Art in Public Places Committee in addition to numerous volunteer leadership positions in the San Juan Unified School District.
Together with her husband Steve, she served on the Leadership Cabinet of the Capital Campaign for the 2010 Crocker Art Museum expansion. They have two adult children and one granddaughter.
Her interests include traveling, photography, and enjoyment of the arts. Her photographs have been exhibited in juried shows at the Blue Line Gallery, Roseville.
Dr. Merksamer received her B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University, her M.P.H. from Harvard University, D.D.S. from UCLA, and Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA.
